Report- Marasandra

We went to the village at around 1 in the afternoon. We started with the first house where there was a man working on a potters wheel. We had a small conversation with him. We had a problem conversing with him as he was unable to understand hindi and we din't know kannada.

We observed him while he was working on the wheel, making pots, joining the base of the pots etc.
Further we went inside the village and mat other potters working on the ganpati statues. We observed how they worked on th idols and asked about how they make it, in how much time etc.
They usually make the body of the idol first by setting the clay in the molds. After that the make the head and attach it to the body they previously made. They make around 10 complete idols in 2 days.

We went and explored further, saw a vineyard and people working there.
We saw how the village was geographically set up etc.

*Reflective statement-  I observed the setting of the village, how at a particular area all the potters lived, then the iron casting, the other portion had much more concrete houses with people probably earning more than the potters. small shops and P.C.O. , small temple etc.
